Surrogate compensation

You will get up to $118,000+ to complete a surrogacy journey

What is included in Surrogate Compensation?

Base salary and various perks comprise surrogate compensation, while the exact proportion varies by agency.

Base compensation is typically paid monthly after a heartbeat is detected. Prenatal and postnatal benefits are paid separately. We feel that our surrogates should be appropriately rewarded for their efforts regardless of the pregnancy’s result; thus we purposefully designed our pay plan to allow them to be financially compensated before becoming pregnant.

What factors determine your pay rate?

Surrogate compensation structures can vary significantly from case to case, influenced by a variety of factors. Key elements include the surrogate’s location, marital status, age, previous experience with surrogacy, and any history of C-sections. Additionally, a surrogate’s working status and their spouse’s working status, along with any applicable hourly rates, can affect lost wages, which are a component of the overall compensation package. Each of these factors can impact the compensation, making it essential for both surrogates and intended parents to remain flexible. By accommodating these variations in compensation, the matching process can be expedited, creating a more efficient pathway for both parties to achieve their goals.

The process and timing of your Payment

Surrogate compensation is disbursed from an escrow account, typically managed by a third-party attorney. The terms of your surrogacy agreement will outline the specific amount you will receive. This escrow account ensures that compensation is paid promptly, often under the supervision of the attorney. It is essential that the escrow account maintains sufficient funds before proceeding with the surrogacy process. Therefore, we kindly ask intended parents to fund the account to the required amount. Additionally, providing the escrow holder with your account details is necessary to ensure that your compensation is delivered securely and on time. You can refer to your standard benefit package, which is a crucial part of the surrogacy agreement between you and the intended parents, for all compensation details and payment timelines.

Surrogate Base Compensation

Base compensation for surrogates serves as the foundational payment for their invaluable role in the surrogacy process. This compensation typically reflects various factors, including the surrogate’s experience, location, and any specific medical or personal circumstances that may influence the arrangement. Establishing a fair base compensation is essential, as it not only acknowledges the surrogate’s commitment and sacrifices but also sets the tone for the overall compensation package.

We believe that each surrogate should have the opportunity to determine her own compensation. To provide a general guideline for base compensation, OneWorld Generations has outlined the following calculation rationale.

It’s important to note that, in addition to base compensation, surrogates will receive additional benefits, which are a significant part of the overall compensation package. For more information on the complete compensation structure at OneWorld Generations, please refer to here.
